The Problem- When someone runs for the presidency the public is never informed about whom the condidate will nominate to fill the numerous high government positions which are filled by presidential appointment. The candidate may talk about the issues and what he hopes to accomplish, but never talks about the team he will put together to work on the issues. Even the candidate's choice for Vice President is not revealed to the public until the nominating convention. So voters in the primary elections must vote for the canditate alone without knowing whom he will select for his administration team.
Recommended Solution- ARTICLE- "Let's Put a Leader into the White House"- appeared in the Jul/Aug 2008 issue of the AARP Bulletin in the "In the Know-Opinion" section, p. 32 which was an excerpt of a new book written by Lee Iococca. He states that we should be concerned about a candidate's leadership quality before we vote for him He states that he came out of retirement a couple of years ago "to write a book..... because I couldn't sit quietly by and watch this country that I love so much, continue to veer off course." "You'd think that with 80% percent of the American public saying we're on the wrong track, there would be a lot of serious discussion about leadership in this election. Not so ! " "I've never been Commander-in-Chief, but I've been a chief executive officer, and know that you're nothing without your team. If you want to be a great leader, you've got to surround yourself with great people" BOOK- "Where Have All the Leaders Gone?", Lee Iacocca, Simon & Schuster Trade, April 2007.
